Activities for Cold Weather
The beginning of December brought the snow, as expected, and I planted the last batch of bulbs only hours before it started. The white blanket looked pretty and comforting spread over the flower beds I just finished cleaning.
Too early for spring garden planning, too late for late fall planting. What is a green thumb to do?
I got out some landscaping books I haven’t looked at in a while, and they revived memories of the joy and excitement I had for my little green haven when I first started, they reminded me why I love gardening so much.
I was grateful to have my perennials this summer; they bloomed profusely, as if to make up for the worry, sadness and isolation of this year.
I usually resent fall cleaning, which is not for the faint of heart, courtesy of our many trees, but not this year. This year I was grateful I could do it, and everything returned to normal, at least in the plant world.
The gardener’s job is finished. Now both I and the garden earned our winter rest.
