Morning Fog

Fall is officially with us, and with it came seasonable weather, a bit of rain, a bit of cold temperatures, and my absolute favorite, the morning fog.

It sneaks up quietly and wafts past the windows, enticing you to go out and enjoy its sensory delights – its hazy haloes around street lights, its soft cool touch on the cheeks, its ghostly swirls and movements through the landscape.

There is nothing more heartwarming than enjoying a hot cup of coffee in the morning fog, where contours feel softer, dissolving like impressionist paintings, presenting the landscape not as a collection of objects, but as a copper, gold, purple, red and yellow watercolor.

Its soft wisps dissipate as the sun rises in the sky, and in their wake the foliage is left powdered in fine sparkly mist.

Unlike regular fog, the morning autumn fog is delicate and easily unraveled, too fragile to withstand the harsh light of day, like many precious gifts of nature are.
