pink
This rose looks almost unreal: perfect petals modestly unfolding to reveal every shade of pink. It’s called Cherries’n Cream and it is not supposed to bloom now. The catalog description says blooms profusely in June and sporadically repeats through fall, and here it is sporadically repeating.
It is interesting to note that even though the June flush is heavily scented (it smells like cloves and sugarplums) the late blooming version doesn’t smell at all, channeling all of its resources into this heavenly color display.
I don’t think I have ever seen a flower that more keenly embodies a single concept: Pink.
